Customers
After global antitrust immunity is granted and the coordination among American, British Airways and Iberia begins, customers would enjoy the following benefits:
- The combined route networks would offer seamless service to approximately 443 destinations, in 106 countries, with 6,277 daily departures worldwide.
- Greater expected availability of lower fares and more travel choices across coordinated route networks.
- Discounts for corporate customers to more destinations and on more frequencies in a single oneworld alliance contract covering travel on oneworld carriers.
- Expanded opportunities to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles and elite tier benefits on flights worldwide and continued reciprocal airport lounge access. Reinvigorated competition as the oneworld alliance would finally be allowed to compete on equal footing with other global air alliances that have longstanding immunities.
Employees
- Employees are expected to benefit from the improved stability, financial resources and competitive position as a result of this strategic arrangement among the five oneworld carriers.
- With improved financial resources, these oneworld carriers will have a greater ability to invest in their people, products, services and fleets over the long term.
Shareholders
- Shareholders are expected to benefit from the participating oneworld carriers’ improved stability, financial resources and competitive position as a result of this strategic arrangement once antitrust immunity is achieved.
- The business agreement is expected to generate significant revenue enhancements and some cost savings, giving each of the participating oneworld carriers more ability to invest in aircraft and improved products and services for customers.
- By working together, the oneworld carriers would be able to coordinate route networks and start new routes that would not have been viable for individual oneworld carriers; leading to improved profitability.
